Centenary Cèilidh

Earlsdon Methodists Church goes to 'Rack and Ruin'. (The name of the band!)

What a wonderful evening of dancing and laughter.

A demonstration by a group of modern jazz dancers kicked off the evening very impressively and then it was everyone’s turn to dance. The excellent band, Rack and Ruin, and caller, kept everyone on their toes from 7.15 to 10.00, with only a 10 minute break.

Dancing in sets, pairs, threes and circles the time flew by.

The caller kept us all moving on and so by the end of the evening everyone had danced with nearly everyone present. We all ended the evening having met so many new people and enjoyed each other’s company. A true community event. Just what the hope and intention was for of all our centenary events since last April.

A huge vote of thanks to the members of the centenary committee who made it possible, especially to Steve and Ruth Fox, for organising the band and decorating the hall to look so attractive with bunting and fairy lights.

100 tickets were printed off and numbered so we could see how many had been given out. We got up to 94. Not sure if they all turned up, but must have been close, couldn't count fast enough, they kept moving!

A packed Hall enjoying an evening of dancing...and fun!

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details below) for our Sunday Service starting at 10.30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are available after the service, please stay and have a chat.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There is a disabled access toilet off the back of church.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.30am, but when the music is led by our Worship Band, we have a few hymns &/or songs before the service starts. There is then a warm welcome from one of our Stewards. Church news & extra notices may also be given at this time. Our services are typically an hour long, with a mixture of hymns, prayers, bible readings and a sermon. One of our leaders will give the sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We finish with a final worship song before a final prayer is said. (Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.)
