Dear Earlsdon Methodist Friends,


Sunday 15th August, Worship at 10.30am is led by Revd Doreen Koffie-Williams.  The service will also be zoomed for those who wish to view at home. (Details are on the attachment)

On Sunday 22nd August, all age worship will be led by Judith Mudzamiri


Bands in the Park (Sunday afternoon)

What better way to relax after a lovely Sunday lunch than sitting on a chair, in the summer sunshine, in a park and listening to your favourite Steelband?!
What’s more it’s free!!
That is exactly what Dayspring Steelband is offering you on Sunday afternoon, 15th August, at Spencer Park between 2.00 and 4.00. Come along and hear us play some old and some new tunes.

You are invited to the following meetings and activities during the coming week:

  • Sunday Coffee meeting   The zoom meeting will be open 12noon - 12.30pm.(Link attached)
  • Intercessory Prayer Group on Tuesday at 11am by zoom. If you would like to join this meeting, please contact either Ethel or Lorna  who can send the link details.

(Monday Fellowship and Tuesday Morning Prayer will resume in September)  

Wellspring is open on Thursdays and Fridays 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. and Saturdays 9.00 a.m. until 12 noon.  The usual menu of drinks and light food is available, and the team will be happy to serve you.  Prayer Shawl knitters meet on Thursday.  Heather is the contact person if you have requests for a prayer shawl recipient or would like to join the knitting team.

Concert in aid of the Circuit Charity:-‘Music in MHA’  on Saturday August 21st entitled 'Where there's a Will there's a way'. Musical settings of William Shakespeare's words with singers and pianists.
We would love to see your smiling faces in the audience !! There will be posters and handbills to see/pick up in Wellspring Coffee area.

Circuit and wider News

Circuit Service Sunday 29th August at Woodside Avenue Church.  The preacher will be Revd Ian Howarth, Chair of the Birmingham District (Flyer attached and information will also be on the church and circuit websites)

Looking Ahead

Church Open Meeting on Wednesday 25th August 7pm-8pm, by zoom.  The link will be published next week.  All are welcome.


Songs of Praise is coming to Coventry Cathedral in September.  There is more information on the attachment including details of how to get involved


3Generate are hosting a residential weekend for young people from the ages 4 to 23years at the NEC in Birmingham from the 29th to 31st of October. This is an event that is open to all Methodist young people all over the Connexion/Country. There will be times for worship and fellowship and various activities. The young people can choose if the wish to sleepover in the tents at the NEC or attend during the day and return home in the evenings. Those between 4years to 7years must be accompanied by their parents/guardians or significant adults.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello 

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details below) for our Sunday Service starting at 10.30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

Currently we are not offering tea, coffee and biscuits after the service due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, but it is hoped we can re start soon.

Plan your journey: 

Open Google Maps

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There is a disabled toilet off the back of church.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.30am, but when the music is led by our Worship Band, we have a few hymns &/or songs before the service starts. There is then a warm welcome from one of our Stewards. Church news & extra notices may also be given at this time. Our services are typically an hour long, with a mixture of hymns, prayers, bible readings and a sermon. One of our leaders will give the sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We finish with a final worship song before a final prayer is said. (Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.)

Have you got children? Would you like to bring them to church?

Earlsdon Methodist Church aims to provide a safe & welcoming environment in which children can be themselves & have fun learning about our Christian faith. Please see our Sunday Services page for more information on Sunday morning groups for children.

 
Current mid-week groups available for children are as follows:

  • Prayers & Bears – every Wednesday morning starting at 8.45 am. This is hosted by the church but led by Tulo & Sarah Raistrick from St Barbara’s C of E Church & is open to parents & carers with children aged ?).
     
  • Dayspring Steel Band – please follow this link for more information.

In addition to the above we now have two youth pastors, Ruda & Ady, & we welcome the new opportunities that they are bringing for our children & youth

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, morning, afternoons and evenings.
