Dear Earlsdon Methodist Friends,

Seventh Sunday of Easter, Following Ascension Day


On Sunday 16th May, Worship will be led by Rev’d Neil Bishop.  This will be a zoom meeting and log on details are as usual, found on the attachment.

Please do remember to ‘mute’ yourself during worship.  Sounds from devices can be distracting to other worshippers; Thank You.

On the following Sundays in May and June, services will alternate between online zoom meetings and worship in the building.  The next date for worship in the church building is 23rd May and this will be led by Alison Gee. Arrangements for attending worship in person continue as previously under COVID-19 regulations.  You must book in advance and details are attached. The phone line for booking on 23rd May will open from Monday 17th May.

Pentecost Sunday Evening, 23rd May: A meditation service will be held at 6.30pm prepared by the Church Stewards. More information to be published next week.


You are invited to any or all of the following meetings and activities during the coming week:

Sunday Coffee meeting   The zoom meeting will be open from 11.30am – 12.30pm.

Meditation Worship Session. Hosted by Coffee Shop Sunday and led by Joy Welford, this Sunday, 16th May at 4pm.    More information and zoom link attached

Intercessory Prayer Group meets on Tuesday mornings by zoom.

Wednesday Morning Prayer is held at 8.30am for 15 minutes.  A time of quiet reflection to start the day. The zoom link is the same as for Sunday worship.

Ascension to Pentecost Novena Prayers. From Thursday 13th  - Sunday 23rd May, each evening at 8.45pm (this is a correction to the previous time of 8.30pm!) prayer will be held for 15 minutes.  Please see attachment, below, for link to join Zoom Meeting.

Other current notices

Church Offering Envelopes.  If you haven’t received your pack for this year, they are available in the church vestry.  Please ask one of the stewards.

Items from Newsletter: Flagging up again a few areas which you may feel you can help with.  Please see last week’s newsletter for more information or email us.

  • A Leading person is needed to support a Parents & Toddler Group
  • Volunteers needed to support local school children in their reading and / or gardening projects.
  • An invitation to sign up with ‘CreationCare’; to do the questionnaire and join with our intention to be more environmentally aware and responsible.


The Group Fellowship meeting last week focussed on Service, as one of our Christian commitments.  Lynne prepared interesting and thought-provoking material.  We share some of the thoughts in this week’s reflection (attached)

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello 

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details below) for our Sunday Service starting at 10.30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

Currently we are not offering tea, coffee and biscuits after the service due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, but it is hoped we can re start soon.

Plan your journey: 

Open Google Maps

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There is a disabled toilet off the back of church.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.30am, but when the music is led by our Worship Band, we have a few hymns &/or songs before the service starts. There is then a warm welcome from one of our Stewards. Church news & extra notices may also be given at this time. Our services are typically an hour long, with a mixture of hymns, prayers, bible readings and a sermon. One of our leaders will give the sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We finish with a final worship song before a final prayer is said. (Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.)

Earlsdon Methodist Church aims to provide a safe & welcoming environment in which children can be themselves & have fun learning about our Christian faith. Please see our Sunday Services page for more information on Sunday morning groups for children.

 
Current mid-week groups available for children are as follows:

  • Prayers & Bears – every Wednesday morning starting at 8.45 am. This is hosted by the church but led by Tulo & Sarah Raistrick from St Barbara’s C of E Church & is open to parents & carers with children aged ?).
     
  • Dayspring Steel Band – please follow this link for more information.

In addition to the above we now have two youth pastors, Ruda & Ady, & we welcome the new opportunities that they are bringing for our children & youth

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, morning, afternoons and evenings.
