Week 60: 9.5.21

Dear Earlsdon Methodist Friends,

Sixth Sunday of Easter

On Sunday 9th May, All Age Worship with Holy Communion will be live in the church building from 10.30am and led by Rev'd Doreen Koffie-Williams. Arrangements for attending worship in person continue as previously under COVID-19 regulations.  You must book in advance and details are attached.

(On Saturday 8th the phone line will be open from 5pm to 7pm only, due to other commitments on the day.)

You can also log into this service by zoom on the usual link.  A team of volunteers has been at work this week in the building to ensure better sound quality.  We are aware that this was not great at Christmas and hope that it will be much improved.  Our thanks to Tim, Bill, Steve and others who have worked hard on this.

On the following Sundays in May and June, services will alternate between online zoom meetings and worship in the building. The next date for worship in the church building is 23rd May.

Sunday Coffee meeting by zoom.  We will start a little later this week to give people time to get home.  The meeting will be open from 12.00 noon.

Monday Fellowship Group resumes on 10th May at 7.30pm fortnightly.  The zoom link is the same as Sunday worship (attached).

Intercessory Prayer Group meets on Tuesday mornings by zoom.

Wednesday Morning Prayer is held at 8.30am for 15 minutes.  A time of quiet reflection to start the day. These times are led, usually with a Powerpoint presentation, so there is no expectation to speak; you can be off camera if you prefer. The zoom link is the same as for Sunday worship.

Ascension to Pentecost Novena Prayers. Information is included in the church newsletter / magazine, attached. From Thursday 13th  - Sunday 23rd, each evening at 8.30pm, prayer will be held for 15 minutes.  Zoom details attached.

The Nurture Group meets on Thursday 13th May at 1.30pm.  This sub-group from the Open Meeting discusses aspects of church life involving care and spiritual support for members.  If you are interested, please contact Lois. (The next Open Meeting is 26th May.)

Church Offering Envelopes.  If you haven’t received your pack for this year, they are available in the church vestry.  Please ask one of the stewards.

EMC Magazine for May includes news of what’s going on and coming up; some great photos taken by Gordon and an update on the church’s Eco Plans.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

For when the church reopens.

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details below) for our Sunday Service starting at 10.30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

Following the service we serve tea, coffee and biscuits. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Plan your journey:

Open Google Maps

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There is a disabled toilet off the back of church.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.30am, but when the music is led by our Worship Band, we have a few hymns &/or songs before the service starts. There is then a warm welcome from one of our Stewards. Church news & extra notices may also be given at this time. Our services are typically an hour long, with a mixture of hymns, prayers, bible readings and a sermon. One of our leaders will give the sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We finish with a final worship song before a final prayer is said. (Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.)

What about my kids?

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, morning, afternoons and evenings.

Our groups include:-

  • Tuesday Prayer Lunch
  • Wednesday Fellowship
  • Wednesday Word
  • Dayspring Steel Band
  • Wellspring Café
  • Prayer Shawl Ministry
Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.
We hope that whoever you are, you will feel at home at our church.

Best Wishes
